Wendy Maybury's report cards always said, "Wendy shares too much with her neighbors and disrupts the class." What they should have said was, "Wendy would be an awesome comedian!" Wendy loves to make people laugh by entertaining them with stories about her crazy Southern family and more recently, new motherhood. She placed in the Funniest Person with a Day Job contest in 2011. She was voted by her peers as "Favorite New Comic & Favorite Female Comic". Wendy has quickly become one of the most requested performers in the Midwest. Whether she's in a dive bar, or opening for Louie Anderson for several thousand people at the Minneapolis convention center, Wendy Maybury is a comedic force to be reckoned with. Wendy is a comedy superstar in the making, so catch her while she's still humble and gives hugs after the show.

perry sponsorIt's hard to be a good wedding photographer. The toughest part is figuring out what you should learn and when you should learn it. It seems like every day there's something new.

If there's one thing that Booray Perry has learned, it's how to make mistakes. He's made plenty. Now he shoots 80 weddings a year and works with new photographers all the time, watching them make the same mistakes that he made again and again. He wants to help you come up with a game plan, a list of things you should be paying attention to right now so that you can become a better photographer today and a more successful photographer tomorrow.

Topics include:

  • Where we are now and where we are going. What changes you can expect in the next 10 years.
  • The most common mistakes that wedding photographers make and how to avoid them.
  • How to prepare yourself to shoot every aspect of the wedding day with confidence.

Mike Ridinger Bio:

Mike along with his wife and business partner, Jessica, run an 8000 sq. ft. store front studio in northern Idaho. They have two boys, Keaton & Cade. After working from a home based studio for several years Mike was approached by an established studio in town, Engstrom’s, and asked to take it over.

Engstrom’s was first established in 1917, making it one of the nation’s oldest studios. By taking on the existing, traditional clientele and adding Mike’s contemporary base, the studio flourished.

Mike and Jessica are firm believers in the “Pay It Forward” concept. They are actively involved in photographing terminally ill children in conjunction with the Jackson Baldwin Pay It Forward Foundation. Jackson, their son Keaton’s best friend since kindergarten, passed away from cancer the day before his 10th birthday. The Ridinger’s are also involved in NILMDTS.

Mike has received the Kodak Gallery and Fuji Excellence awards, as well as an Idaho Photographer of the Year, plus numerous print awards. After teaching at Light Pro Expo & several state & local affiliates, he became a part of After Dark, demonstrating his lighting and posing styles in a hands on environment.

Mike has a knack for teaching in a way that is easy to comprehend. He is a popular instructor everywhere he goes. Students find his way of teaching very easy to follow and understand, breaking things down to their basic elements.

melone sponsorWikipedia defines evangelism marketing as, " an advanced form of word-of-mouth marketing in which companies develop customers who believe so strongly in a particular product or service that they freely try to convince others to buy and use it." And that is exactly what this class is about - taking your existing customers from great clients to voluntary advocates who actively spread the word on behalf of your company. Many people think that is just luck - getting that one client who just loves you and wants to share you with the world...but creating this type of client marketing force can be cultivated and nurtured. I'll tell you how I do it and give you some insight into why I believe that investing in your clients is the best marketing dollars spent in the industry.
Tanja Melone BIO:

Tanja leapt headfirst into a dream and into the photography industry 15 years ago when she left her VERY corporate job as an environmental scientist by the wayside. She then proceeded to made every mistake known to new business owners and photographers (twice in most cases) before finding her groove. Rather than giving up, which would have been the easy choice many times, she busted her ass learning, growing, regrouping, rebranding, and redefining her idea of a successful business along the way. Today she owns a studio in downtown Denver where she photographs spirited, fearless, bold high school seniors (tanjameloneseiors.com), newborns of imperfect, courageous moms who sometimes forget to breathe (contemporaryexpressions.net), and commercial and editorial assignments that challenge her. She is equally comfortable with studio and natural light, has taught workshops across the country and internationally online, and would love nothing more than to prevent others from making the same mistakes she did. Tanja believes that happiness is a choice, that success is defined by much more than a bank account, that life shouldn’t be sugar coated (unless you are Willy Wonka) and that you should dare to be unapologetically you…always.

melone sponsorMini sessions can be a fun and lucrative addition to your studio - but there are a few tips and tricks to getting them “right” if you want to maximize their potential. In my opinion, there is a MINDSET to mini sessions. I consider them to be, above all else, a marketing strategy! While they can definitely generate income, they are primarily a way to introduce NEW clients to your studio - clients who you can then nurture and convert to full session clients. Sure, you could simply approach mini sessions as “quick turn” cash generators (which they can be), but they can be so much more!.
